Avraham Shabsi HaCohen Friedman (born 12 Adar II 5719/
March 22,
1959) is a popular musical entertainer in the
Orthodox Jewish community.
As a child, his extraordinary vocal talent was immediately noticed and he performed at various functions at a very young age.
Avraham Fried, as he's known in the Jewish music world, has 6 children. He is one of the foremost musical entertainers of the orthodox Jewish world. He is a
Lubavitcher Hasid. His music is mostly classical Jewish music, very similar to his counterpart
Mordechai ben David. He lives in
Crown Heights, Brooklyn, near the
Lubavitch world headquarters, but his musical career requires frequent travel. His style can be considered traditional, yet modern and entertaining. His music tends to integrate many styles of popular music, including pop, rock and jazz, with Jewish lyrics and themes.
His brother is the well known Hasidic lecturer Rabbi
Manis Friedman.
